I'm Katie Mullins and I am a junior in the Honors College at East Carolina University. I am a communications major with concentrations in both public relations and journalism.

Megan Edge (L) and myself reporting for Pirate News Network

I love watching Pirate football with my sorority sisters!

I am from a small town called Clayton, about 30 miles east of Raleigh, N.C. My younger brother and sister and I are very close, and my sister attends ECU, too. Our family is originally from New York, but we moved to North Carolina when I was 13. We're a very close-knit, loud, Irish-Italian family, which makes for some very memorable experiences!

During the summer of 2012, I had the opportunity to work as a marketing intern for Live Nation Entertainment in Raleigh, N.C. I was responsible for promotions and marketing for fourteen concerts at Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion and Red Hat Amphitheater (formally Raleigh Amphitheater). I learned a lot about the music and marketing industries, as well as how a national corporation operates on a local level. I also was lucky enough to meet country singer Luke Bryan (swoon!!) and escort him to the Curtis Media deck for an interview. I had the best summer I've ever had working for Live Nation, and it genuinely influenced my decision to pursue a career in public relations or marketing in the entertainment industry.

One of my favorite moments of the summer -- standing on stage at TWCMP!
I am a proud sister of Alpha Omicron Pi and am very active in the Zeta Psi chapter at East Carolina University. I am currently the Vice President of Membership Recruitment for the chapter, which means I organize and plan formal recruitment (sometimes known as 'rush') in the fall. I love being in an organization that gets me involved on campus and gives me an amazing support system. My sisters are some of the most important people in my life, and they inspire me every day!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the sisters of AOII!
